Gimmick *(Contest)*

Gimmick is an earth pony filly who wants to be too many different things. She doesn't want to be stuck being just one thing her whole life and so when the mood strikes her she'll make a new ponysona for herself. One day she might be a hardworking earth pony on an Apple Orchard, the next she's a high flying Wonderbolt. Now can she change the fact she's an earth pony? Of course not, but that doesn't stop her wild imagination. She'll construct wings or horns out of what ever if it means she can be what she wants to be.

So why did I design her the way I did? Well since this is for an OC centered group I figured she should represent this. Her desire to be what ever she wants I feel is a good representation of how many people view their OC's. They can be anything they want them to be. There's no real rule saying they have to be just one kind of pony, they could be a half pony half crab if they wanted. There's no rule saying they have to have everyday sorts of jobs, I've seen some have OC's that are the embodiments of the Devil who's married to Celestia. Do these kinds of OC's get good reception? Not usually, but that won't stop people because it's their character. That's what I wanted Gimmick to be, what ever you want her to be. She might be naturally an earth pony but if she feels like being a dragon then she'll be a dragon, at least in her imagination. That's the only limit OC's really have, the imagination of their makers.

Here's my entry for 's Mascot contest. I'm not gonna lie I'm not exactly proud of the visual design of this one mostly because somethings weren't really clicking for me. However, I am more proud of her backstory/personality. I guess with this type of character that we were challenged to make, I saw more importance in their personality than I did in their appearance since an OC can look like what ever you want them to look. Does that mean I'm entirely proud of this piece? Eh......I'm more proud of her as a character than I am on her appearance. Either way, I feel like who Gimmick is as a pony at the very least makes up for a shoddy color and design work.
